Dog Leash

A dog leash is an essential item for any dog owner. Part of the responsibility of owning a dog is providing them with regular exercise, of which daily walks are an important aspect. And in many areas, a leash is required by law for any dog that is taken out in public.

A dog leash can be made from most anything, provided it is strong enough not to break under strain. The most common materials used are leather and nylon mesh, but rope and chain are also popular choices. Most reputable pet stores will have a variety of different leashes from which to choose.

A dog leash is most often attached to a collar around the neck of the dog. However, most experts recommend using a harness when your pet is on the leash. Harnesses apply any pressure to the chest and shoulders rather than the windpipe, which is the major downside of a collar.
