Training tip for designing
your lessons. Always start with something familiar to the dog, kind of
like a warm-up, let's get in the thinking mode. Then move on to a new idea
or concept. This can be as large as introducing a brand new idea, like
beginning to teach "stay" or just building on a familiar theme,
like teaching a consistent stay with distractions. Always end your lessons
with something fun. A short play time, free run, or game of fetch.
By doing this your dog will remember training as fun and always look
forward to your sessions together. Remember, you dictate when
training/playtimes begin and when they end, not your dog. You may
"read" that your dog is becoming tired or wants to play and then
you may do something about it, but the decision is in your hands. You are
the leader, you must lead at all times
