About the Creator and Principle Trainer of Dog Sense

The author and instructor of the “DogSense” training series is Chris Hamer who founded Wyndhaven Kennels in the early 80’s and has taught over 10,000 dogs and their owners during her twenty-year career.

Beginning with a client base of only five dogs, in just a few short years, the kennel operation grew to train over 50 dogs a day. During these early years, Chris completed her Masters Degree in animal behavior.

In addition to her training and seminars, Chris has been a guest on local radio. She has trained dogs from a variety of organizations including assisting police officers ready their dogs for the canine academy, developing a dog therapy program for nursing homes, and teaching dogs for TV commercials. She has competed with both her own and clients’ dogs in obedience, field trials, pointer and  retriever hunt tests. She is known as the gun dog trainer by the Seattle chapter of Ducks Unlimited.

Her ability to quickly assess dogs’ assets and limitations allow her to develop a specialized program geared to the individuality of each dog/owner relationship.

   DogSense Philosophy

“My goal is to teach owners the secrets that dog trainers know.” Chris states, “I want participants to see their dog the same way I do.”
